TECAST is a cast polyamide 6 product manufactured by the activated anionic polymerization of caprolactam. Subsequent annealing produces semi-finished and finished parts which are almost free of internal stress.
The properties of the TECAST family can be varied between tough elastic and tough hard depending on the polymerization conditions and the selection of raw materials. Modifications with MoS2 and lubricants extend the application possibilities in respect of requirements which place high demands on the sliding and friction behaviour of TECAST.
Benefits for the customer:
In comparison to polyamide 6 injection moulding and extrusion compounds, suitably modified TECAST types are characterized by higher tensile and compressive strength, a higher e-modulus and higher heat distortion resistance. The reasons for this are the higher crystallinity and far greater molecular weight. Other benefits are excellent abrasion resistance and low creep behaviour under load.
