Polyolefines
Polyolefins are semi-crystalline thermoplastics from the standard group of plastics. The most important members of this group are polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), which together make up half of the entire volume of plastic production. Apart from their low density, they are primarily characterized by a good chemical resistance, low moisture absorption and good electrical insulation properties.
- low density (compared to other materials)
- good wear resistance
- minimal moisture absorption
- excellent chemical resistance
- high resistance to corrosion
- non-stick
- very good electrical insulation properties
- high vibrational damping
Ensinger offers the following Polyolefines:
TECAFINE PE (PE)
Polyethylene (PE) - TECAFINE PE - is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with a high degree of toughness and very good chemical resistance. When compared to other plastics, it exhibits low mechanical strength and temperature resistance.
Individual polyethylenes vary in their molar masses (molecular weight), which are of relevance for their respective physical properties. These technical plastics can be mainly divided into high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-HMW) - TECAFINE PE5 - and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW) - TECAFINE PE10. Due to the higher molecular weight, TECAFINE PE10 possesses slightly better impact resistance and notched impact strength, as well as improved resistance to wear than TECAFINE PE5.
- low density compared to other materials
- high impact resistance, even at low temperatures
- good resistance to wear
- minimal moisture absorption
- excellent chemical resistance
- high corrosion resistance
- non-stick
- very good electrical insulation
- high vibrational damping
TECAFINE PP (PP)
Polypropylene (PP) - TECAFINE PP - is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic, which resembles PE-HD, but exhibits higher strength, rigidity and hardness. PP is, however, very sensitive to impact at temperatures below freezing point. The chemical resistance is comparable to PE.
- low density compared to other materials
- minimal moisture absorption
- excellent chemical resistance, even to solvents
- highly corrosion resistant
- relatively high superficial hardness
- very good electrical insulator
- sensitive to cold
TECAFINE PMP (PMP)
Polymethylpentene (PMP) - TECAFINE PMP - is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic from the polyolefin group of standard plastics. This material has the lowest density of all technical plastics. A further outstanding characteristic is its high transparency.
- low density
- high transparency
- high thermal dimensional stability
- good chemical resistance
- outstanding dielectric characteristics
